Day 5 - Picture of You and Sibling/Pet

So I know I missed a few days due to helping my sister move from FL to RI (see previous blog entry) and I know this means I failed the picture challenge, but I will still continue and start from where I left off.

Day 5 - Picture of your and your sibling(s) or pet(s). I am going to post pictures of my pets.

My boyfriend and I have 1 dog and 2 cats. We adopted the cats from a shelter for my birthday in 2011 and they have two completely different personalities, as all cat lovers will understand and they look nothing alike. Pickles is the black and white one, she is clingy and loves to meow and purr all the time. She is average weight and loves her belly being rubbed and scratched, we always have 'belly time' with her. Philly had gray, long hair that is soft to the touch and he only comes to sit with you when he wants to. His tail is fluffy and we call him 'fan tail' and I have been known to obsess at times over how much I love his fuzzy tail. Where Pickles is average in weight, my boyfriend calls her chunky due to Philly who is the fuzzy, stronger cat, but does not have much weight on him, but the vet states is normal and he is just a thin kitty. I wanted him to be fat and fuzzy when I first got him, but.... lol

I have always been a cat person, they come to you when they want to mostly, but I have always had their love and affection when I was upset and needed comfort the most. Even though I have to deal with litter, they are less maintenance then our dog its.

Our dog is very extreme! His name is Odin and he is strong, energetic and pretty much crazy. We got him as a puppy from Craigslist April 2012 and he was barely 9 lbs, quiet and calm and slept most of the time. After we brought him home we got him established with our vet and he was a little sick, once the antibiotics were done this dog was running all over the place and eating everything! He has torn up our couch, many pairs of my shoes and loves to eat the oven mitts too!

We take him for walks to try to help calm him more, but his is just a very energetic dog, I'm thinking about getting him a treadmill. We were told he is a mix of boxer and pitt bull and possibly something else. His back is up to my knee level and I'm only 5'4 and he weighs a solid 50lbs of muscle. I love this dog even if he is too hyper for us and he likes to eat our stuff. We have kept the house cleaner and more tidy (not that it was very messy, just lived in) and we make sure to put up all shoes, food and anything else he would crab to chew on. He thinks he is a lap dogs, but is ungraceful when sitting on you, we are always getting elbowed and our stomachs crushed, but ones he settles and relaxes in our lap, laying with him gives the calming effect that only comes from animals that we love.

Remember that animals love unconditionally, they don't know another way. If you have the ability to donate to your locate shelters or national or you adopt a pet remember this is a gift that the pet would pay back with their love and affection unconditionally.

Moving sucks

I have been close with my sister for years and look to her as my best friend, she and I have had each others backs through many things both hard and extremely hard. So when she asked me to help her and her husband drive to their new home in RI I accepted immediately, I live in Jacksonville, FL and they were moving from Jacksonville to RI due to a job offer that her husband received.

We left their home Sunday 10/27 at 8 am and did pretty good on time. We made it to Alexandria, VA by 10:30pm, this is good timing because the Uhaul would not go too much over 65 mph, we were traveling with a dog and cats so we had to walk the dog and check on the cats, and each one of the three of us have health conditions that make driving for long periods very difficult. My sister and I have heredity spinal issues that only get worse over time and cause degenerative disc, arthritic, etc throughout our entire backs, starting with the lower back area and hers is much more severe then mine is.

During the trip we reminisced on our Dad and the good times and his passing. There were many tears of laughter, happiness, frustration and pure exhaustion, I would not trade this for anything. It is unfortunate that I was only able to take a little bit of time off of work and could not stay with them any longer.

We reached there home in RI, a friend of theirs helped unload the truck and we stayed up till 2am, until I passed out on their big ottoman and they kicked me off that and to the couch a few later. My flight home left at 6am so they dropped me off at 5 am and I said goodbye to my sister and brother-in-law with tears and deep hugs, not sure when they can come visit next. I wish them well with their move, settling, job and new life in RI, but I miss them so much. My sister and I are so close, this distance hurts, but I know the job will be good for them and hope that the distance does not hurt so much for her as time passes.

Personally I have never moved out of state. Moving sucks, costs too much and is just tiring from the planning, packing, lifting, unpacking, etc.

What is the longest that anyone has moved? 

I was 7 and moved from PA to FL, not sure if that counts with me being 7 because I don't remember it much and probably did not too much, if any packing.

Day 4 - Someone I Love A Lot

I have been with my boyfriend Jason for over 4 years now.  He has helped me through the loss of my Dad and I have helped him with the loss of his mom.

We get along great, but like all couples we still have our moments. When we first met I was just looking for friends and had recently ended a long relationship where my ex was dishonest and I was scared to enter anything new.

We met and had lunch at Chili's then went to play pool with one of his friends. There was never an awkward moment and we always had something to talk about. He is cute, charming, funny, and amazing in every way for me.

We dated then moved in quickly which scared us both and our families, but it all worked out. We both trusted each other and knew this relationship was a long term commitment.

I love him with all my heart and hope one day to be husband and wife. Though I may get impatient at times for it, I know that when we are ready.....it will happen.

Day 3 - Bestest Friend

Day 3 is a picture of me and my bestest friend. My friend Amy and I have know each other since 2001 or so, I'm bad with the details, she would know probably the month and day even. lol

As with most friendships we have had our ups and downs and for awhile there we stopped talking completely. It unfortunately took something drastic for me to find the courage to talk to her again and like the forgiving person she is, she accepted me back in to her life. I really don't know what I would do without her. She has been going through some rough times in life and I try to be there for her as much as possible and don't have nearly enough time with her as I want to.

Best friends should be able to discuss anything and everything without feeling shy or scared to talk about them and I have that with Amy. We talk about family, friends, relationships, sex, dogs, general public and other random questions that come to mind. It is so easy to talk with her about these things that I barely hesitate when I have a new questions or topic to discuss.

I don't think about it too much because it hurts to and my eyes well up as I type this, but she was there when I found out about my Dad passing. That time is a blur to me mostly, but I remember clearly walking into the ER and seeing her face and just knowing and she was there for me through that. It was the hardest thing I have gone through to this day.

She is dealing with her own life struggles and I hope that I am there for her throughout them and can make more time for her and be there by her side when she needs me. This is why she is my best friend, I can not imagine a time without her anymore.

Day 2 - Family Picture

Ok, so it took some digging, but I was finally able to find a family picture. It was always hard for us to get together long enough to take a family picture and then we very rarely had someone else available to take the photo. This family picture is only missing my Dad, but it does have all of my Mom, Sister and husband, Sister and Husband, Brother and Wife, Niece, Nephew and Myself and my boyfriend (4 years together so I love him and he is part of the family now).

My Dad passed away suddenly in Nov 2009 and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. We had a lot in common, likes, dislikes, our quick wit and sarcastic humor and we got along most of the time. I'd say about 95% of the time. Our family was never vocal about our love for each other, but my Dad's passing hit us hard and we began to say "I love you" to each other, which we never did before.

His passing was quick and we never had a chance to say I love you or goodbye close to his passing and I personally regret the times that I was able to spend more time with him but didn't.

Keep your family close and never miss an opportunity to tell them you love them.

Day 1 Favorite Picture of Myself

Now I will say that I do not like to take pictures too often, but of the pictures that I currently have I have two favorite pictures of myself.

The first is a really good picture of me that I took after I straightened my hair and even have a decent smile. For those that don't know me I hate my teeth because of a gap and my hair is usually straight on the top and after my ears its wavy. So it never really looks right unless I use a curling spray/balm and try to make all of my hair wavy/curly or I try to straighten it. I have always loved the black and white photo and this helps remove all blemishes on my skin. This is why this photo is one of my favorites.

The second photo shows three of my tattoos. I love tattoos and wish I could get more, but financially I am unable to at this time. Tattoos help express who I am and what I love. On my back shoulders I have the sun and moon which I have always loved and I like how the artist did the shading and placement as well. The tribal piece below is for my family. The middle has my zodiac sign, Gemini. There are 6 butterflies to represent myself and my family. Mom, Dad, Sister, Sister, Me, Brother. I love my family and they are always with with no matter how apart we are.

My dad passed away in 2009 and I think about him everyday. My next tattoo will be a chess piece of the Knight to represent my dad. He taught me Chess and I only wish I had spent more time with him playing the game.

50 Day Picture Challenge

I have never done a picture challenge before and although people usually do these on Facebook, I wanted to blog them instead so I can go into more detail on certain pictures and so I would not clutter up my Facebook feed.

I searched picture challenge and grabbed the one that said Impossible. I read over a few here and there and this seems entirely possible to me. If I am unable to find a picture to go for that day. I plan to think of something similar or close and post that instead. Lets see if I can keep this up.

Waiting for a ring

Now I know that we shouldn't push our significant other into doing things and should wait until they are ready. But at what point is the wait too long?

We have talked about marriage and kids and we both want them.....with each other. But there has been no real talk about getting engaged and making this official. The last time we discussed this we were upset about our financial situation and discussed having children with the low financials that we have now, and how we want to wait until we have better incomes. Marriage came up, by him, and he stated that he wanted to "get married and have kids, but not live paycheck to paycheck."

We understand that children are expensive and we will probably live paycheck to paycheck even then, but we are doing that now, barely making ends meet....with no kids.We also discussed our ages, I will be 30 next year and he will be 34. So we are already going to be older then some families, but don't want to be too old, or no longer around for our children's lives.

We have been together 4.5 years and do not really argue or have any issues between us that are breakup worthy. We both have out moments and out little quirks. But we do see this future together, so how long should I wait?

I know that I will continue to wait because I love him with all of my heart, but a part of me will still wait for a ring to be in each of my gifts, Christmas, Valentine's, Birthday....until one day he asks me.

And of course my answer will be YES!
